Writing a review isn’t easy. It’s a responsibility. If you have an audience and you say something about something, it can influence them, either in a good or bad way.

As you know, Google strictly follows the E-A-T algorithm. It really doesn’t like websites that talk about products they’ve never used. Some people just show up out of nowhere, write a review only to make money, and completely ignore the guidelines and ethics behind it.

Without wasting time, let’s talk about how to write a Book Review Blog, the format, and the things to consider before writing a review.

Things to Consider Before Writing a Book Review

Be sure you’re ready to write a review and actually read every word on every page. Jot down the things you liked, the things you didn’t like, and anything you think could be better. When you write honestly like that, there’s a good chance your review will show up on Google.

Book Review Format Selection

It’s all about format and presentation. Choose the format wisely by checking what your competitors are doing, because different types of books need different formats for reviews. Like I recently wrote a review on the Chromebook 14 G4 on my website — it didn’t just get indexed, it actually ranked.

So every product should have a different review format. And when it comes to the type of product, you’ll need to switch things up even more. Let me give you an example.

How to Write a Book Review Blog Post in a General Format

H1 [Book Name] Book Review

Start by sharing how you found this book. Was it recommended by a friend? Popped up on your feed? Just a random pick from the shelf? Give readers a little background.

H2 About the [Book Name]

Share the basic details—title, author, genre, category, short blurb, publisher, and how you got your hands on it (bought it, review copy, borrowed it, etc.).

H2 Book Review

Begin with a quick summary of what the book is about. Then go into your personal thoughts and feelings. Keep it real, just like you’re chatting with a friend.

H3 What I Liked About the Book

Point out the things that stood out in a good way. Maybe it was the writing style, the plot twists, a certain character, or just how the book made you feel.

H3 Important Points to Notice

Mention anything you think readers should keep in mind while reading. This could be about the writing style, pacing, content warnings, or even who this book might be best for.

H2 Final Thoughts

Wrap things up. Share why you think others should give this book a go. Maybe it’s perfect for lazy weekends, good for a quick read, or hits the right emotional notes.

Mention its online rating casually and encourage your readers to check it out. Let them know what kind of reader would enjoy it the most.

Write a Book Review from an SEO Point of View

I’d strongly suggest uploading an original image of the book, not a stock photo, and definitely not something pulled from the internet. If you can, add a short original video of the book too. This helps build trust with your readers and also with Google.

Before writing your post, do proper keyword research. Use your main keyword in the H1, H2, and H3 headings if it fits naturally. Also, try to include it in the first paragraph and the metadata.

Don’t forget to sprinkle in some related keywords to give your review more depth and better SEO coverage.

Add your personal touch. Share a small story, like why you picked this book or what caught your eye. This kind of personal insight makes the review feel more real and relatable, and it helps connect with your audience better.

Now I’d say reviewing a product is actually pretty simple — haha — because I explained it in a super easy way. You don’t need to scroll through long blog posts. Just follow one and you’re good to go.

Loved how you emphasized reading every word of the book before reviewing—it’s such a simple point, yet often overlooked. Authenticity really is the key to standing out, especially with Google’s focus on E-A-T.
