How I Scaled a Perfume E-Commerce Store from 50K to 40L in 7 Months

Project Overview

From November 2023 to June 2024, I managed the SEO for an e-commerce perfume store that offered men’s, women’s, and unisex fragrances, along with deodorants and gift sets.

When I started, the site had minimal organic visibility, low traffic, and stagnant sales, generating roughly 50,000 PKR in monthly revenue. By the end of the project, it was pulling in around 40 lakh PKR, driven primarily by organic growth.

Goal: Build sustainable organic traffic and revenue growth through a complete SEO transformation.

Step 1: Market & Competitor Analysis

My first step was to understand the market landscape and what top competitors were doing differently. I:

  • Analyzed target audiences (age, gender, and buying behavior).
  • Studied competitor keyword profiles, metadata, and site architecture.
  • Checked backlink quality and local SEO factors (Google My Business, NAP consistency).
  • Evaluated traffic sources to see where competitors gained organic leverage.

Using SEMrush, Moz, and other extensions, I collected detailed insights to build a strong data-backed strategy.

Step 2: SEO & Website Audit

My audit revealed multiple issues that were holding the site back:

  • Product images and names didn’t match — I corrected all inconsistencies.
  • Core Web Vitals were poor (CLS and LCP scores) — optimized banner images and removed animations.
  • Blog recommendation widgets malfunctioned — temporarily disabled until stable.
  • Product card alignment was off — fixed with developer coordination.
  • Availability filters failed — resolved with developer help.
  • Product titles had duplicate brand names, leading to keyword stuffing — standardized across all pages.
  • The WhatsApp widget overlapped content — repositioned.
  • Collection pages lacked H1 headings — I added keyword-focused headings.
  • Titles and meta descriptions were awkwardly written — rewrote all to improve CTR.
  • Contact form was missing — I implemented a clean, functional one.

Step 3: SEO Strategy & Implementation

After fixing the core issues, I created a custom SEO strategy that combined technical optimization, content refinement, and link building.

Key actions included:

  • Optimizing titles and descriptions for every category and product using keyword insights from Google Search Console.
  • Creating detailed brand pages and descriptions for the top 20 perfume brands (out of 90+ total).
  • Redirecting broken internal links to maintain authority flow.
  • Disavowing toxic backlinks (spam score >5%).
  • Launching a niche-focused backlink campaign with relevant anchor text.
  • Starting a content publishing plan to support topical clusters.
  • Adjusting on-page design elements to reduce bounce rate from 50% — even small layout changes improved engagement metrics.

Results Achieved

The combined strategy delivered powerful outcomes:

  • Hundreds of new keywords ranked on Google — dozens in the Top 10 positions.
  • Strong and consistent growth in impressions, clicks, and CTR.
  • Revenue increase from 50K PKR to 40L PKR in just 7 months.
  • Substantial improvement in user engagement and session time.

Client Feedback

“He did an excellent job with SEO. Our online visibility improved significantly, and we saw a remarkable increase in traffic and sales. Highly recommend his expertise!”

Key Takeaways

  • A proper technical audit often reveals hidden ranking barriers.
  • Product-level optimization in e-commerce can drive massive growth when executed carefully.
  • Continuous on-page refinement and link quality control keep growth sustainable.
  • Even small UX tweaks can create measurable results.

Final Thoughts

This project proved how the right mix of technical SEO, content strategy, and attention to detail can transform a store’s organic performance. The leap from 50K to 40 lakh wasn’t magic — it was methodical, data-driven, and carefully executed.
